Wow, I just looked at my last post and I can't believe it was Nov. 9th when I last posted!! Ahhh, will I ever get better at posting frequently??!! LOL :)
Anyways a lot has been going on with us! Norah will be 9 months old on Tuesday and I can't believe she is now closer to the year old mark!!! I have already started to look at Pinterest for 1st birthday ideas!! I have also been doing lots of DIY stuff and doing my usual thrift store shopping. I haven't been to many garage sales since its winter, but loving my thrift store adventures!
Here is a highlight of what's new:
1. Norah is completely on finger foods and she is loving it!!! I transitioned her a couple of weeks ago and I am almost done using the last of her purees. I give her whatever were eating usually and she loves slices of avocado, banana, and broccoli, sweet potato, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheerios, anything really...last night I made crockpot enchiladas and she loved them!! She definitely has Casey's non picky pallet because she eats whatever I give her!
2. Norah took 3 steps the other day at 8 months old!! Ahhhh I better watch out! I can't believe my baby girl is almost a walker! She also got 4 more teeth, 1 more on the bottom and 3 on top, so now she has 3 on the bottom and 3 on top..there has been a lot of drooling going on!
3. Me and Casey got the new iPhone 4s'!!! It was a huge upgrade from our 3g iPhones :) We were able to sell our old ones on Amazon and make a lot back so that was awesome and we also decided to sell our old iPods since we haven't picked them up in like 2 years! We were able to make more on those than we thought too. So it was nice having some Christmas money :)
4. I got my early Christmas present..a new Canon Rebel 2Ti DSLR camera!! I am one happy girl!! I have been wanting a DSLR for years because I just love photography and I am hoping to start my own design blog soon and wanted to have a nice one for my blog, plus to be able to take some great pics of Norah :) Casey is totally into taking pictures too, which is wonderful! I laugh because for years I have been telling him how great DSLRs are for taking amazing photos and he didn't understand what the big deal was and why they were $700 bucks, but as soon as I got mine he started watching YouTube to help me figure it out and now he spends more time on the camera and watching YouTube videos then I do right now!! He loves it! I joke with him saying he has found a new off season hobby since he can't go backpacking right now. I just love it though because we can do it together! Most of the pics on this posting are with the new camera, we love it :)
5. We have a 4th member of the family!! We just got a 4 1/2 year old rescued chocolate lab!! We named her Juno and we call her JuJu :) I have been wanting a dog for years because I grew up with dogs and we haven't been able to have one since we have been renting for the last 4 years, but our landlord at our current place approved us for getting a dog!! She is a sweet heart and Casey is completely in love with her and she loves him too! She follows him around everywhere!! Norah loves playing with her and loves to just watch her. We were so happy to find a rescued chocolate lab that is such an amazing family dog! The best thing is she comes with free lifetime obedience training with a professional trainer who trains police dogs and all sorts of family pets. Juno came from the lady's rescue shelter and Casey will start classes in January! I love spoiling her already, I bought her toys and a pretty dog bed I found on clearance at Homegoods, she is laying out it below :) She loves her bed, wherever we put it she lays on it, she is such a good girl :)
6. A couple of weekends ago I got to spend the day in Napa with my wonderful mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, her sister and mom. We went on the St. Helena Christmas House Tours where you get to tour homes in St. Helena (a town in the Napa Valley) that are all decorated for Christmas and then enjoy a nice Napa Valley lunch at one of many wonderful restaurants. We went through 6 beautiful homes, my favorite is pictured below, it was a beautiful old victorian. It was such a wonderful day together and I enjoyed trying out my new camera :)
7. I have been doing a ton of DIY projects and some of my most recent are below:
-I made a peppermint wreath and a wreath made out of a Dollar Tree book, both for Christmas.
My Book Wreath that cost me $2 bucks!!
-I also recently purchased a dresser that I am using for a TV/Entertainment piece from the local thrift store for $60 bucks that I plan on painting a Cobalt blue.
-I also have been finding old brass candlesticks from thrift stores and painting a glossy white along with other items that I want to modernize a bit! I have been loving me a can of spray paint :)

-One day when I was watching The Nate Berkus Show I learned to look for old lamps at thrift stores that can be repurposed into candle holders so a couple of weeks ago I found one at my local Goodwill and got it for $6 bucks! I plan on sawing off the lamp part and spray painting the base. (Pics coming soon)
-I also made this sign for Christmas out of free printable letters and scrapbook paper that I already had.
-My biggest project for Christmas was this tree skirt! I saw one on Pinterest I liked and so I attempted it with my sister-in-law, who also made one, and she helped me get it going one night and we thought we would finish it, but it took me longer than I thought, it was a totally of 8 plus hours, but the finished product came out wonderful!
-I also had this frame from my baby shower that had twine strung on it in rows to hold pictures and decided to take the back off and use clothespins to hang up all the Christmas cards I received this year! love the way it turned out :)
Here are some pics of the house all decorated for Christmas!
I had these glass wear already so I went to the 99cent store
and purchased the ball ornaments to put inside them :)
I found the branches at Homegoods for super cheap and
I bought the snowflake ornaments at the 99cent store!
I also have started a tradition a few years back that my good friend Danielle from Virginia told me she does. Every year she buys an ornament that sums up the year for her family so every year I have been buying an ornament for our family for the same reason and this year was a big year for us so besides getting Norah's first Christmas ornament I got a handmade Cali ornament from Etsy that is the shape of Cali since we made the move back to Cali this year!!
Here are some general pics of the fam (mostly Norah :)
We have had to purchase a gate system for our living room because Miss Norah is into EVERYTHING!! Our current house is so open that it was impossible to just let her roam because we have a step ledge she already knows how to crawl up but not down and several other hazardous aspects she doesn't need to get into.
These pics were taken in my grandma's charm that she has a picture of herself in at around 4 years old, the chair is over 100 years old and my dad and Casey's dad help refurbish it for Norah :)
Some more pics :)
Today we got to get out to the park as a family of 4 :) We had such a great time!
